Arcane is an animated series released on Netflix. It is based on the game League of Legends. The game has been around for many years. Arcane is the first series to be released for the game.
Short answer is yes, a teaser trailer has already been released for the series 2. However, it will take a few years to produce before it will be released.
What is Arcane?
Arcane is based on the characters from the hugely popular League Legendโs game. It centres around two characters: VI and Jinx/Powder. It is the origin story of how innocent orphan Powder is corrupted into becoming Jinx.
Vi and Powder are sisters who lost their parents in the rebellion against the imperials. They were saved by Vander who took them into his care.
Along with other war orphans, the pair stage a heist that goes wrong. Which instigates all the events that result in Powder losing her sanity and becoming Jinx. Itโs very similar to Harley Quinn story, except Sico (Jinxโs Joker) cares for Jinx far more than he lets on. Almost like a daughter to her.
Is Arcane Worth Watching?
Yes very much so. It takes a while to get started. But once the transformation of Powder starts its hard to stop watching. There are 10 episodes and I managed to watch the whole series in 2 days. Which for someone who doesnโt binge watch TV is quite a feat.
Itโs not just the story that is captivating. The animation and visual style is beautiful to look at. It took the production company 6 years to create and it is definitely worth the wait. On top of that, the music is also used to great affect. In fact this is the reason I first heard of it. On TikTok there was a clip of one of the battles between Jinx and a former friend. The music compliments it beautifully.
There are multiple characters that have their own storylines threaded throughout the series. Iโm going to have a re-watch so that I can focus on their onscreen presence. As I was too invested in the Jinx storyline.
The Arcane Result
So once youโve finished Arcane, what next? Well I tried playing a few rounds of League of Legends. And realised quite quickly that it just wasnโt my taste. Itโs not a bad game, but I wonโt be returning to it.
The Tell Tale games have a very similar aesthetic. I played Tales of Borderlands when I first bought the PlayStation 4 and I breezed through it. So that would be your best port of call.
Finally Arcane Series 2 has been announced though I donโt expect it to be out anytime soon:
